Current Position: Senior researcher at Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry (ICB), National Research Council of Italy (CNR), Pozzuoli, Italy.

Research activity and interest: Nuzzo G. graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Naples in July 2008 with 110 cum laude, with an experimental thesis in organic chemistry. She holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Salerno, focusing her research activity on the exploration of the chemical diversity of marine organisms. After PhD, she continued the research activity of biomolecules from marine organisms, focusing on the study of lipids and structure characterization of marine metabolites by both Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry. She carried out research in various projects aimed mainly at identifying active molecules for health from marine sources. As main research of interest she is currently working on the development of a marine natural products library for drug discovery, upgraded chromatographic techniques used for the purification of biomolecules, spectroscopic and advanced spectrometers methods for the chemical characterization and stereochemistry determination and biosynthesis of natural products.

Expertices:

  • Marine natural products
  • Drug discovery
  • Medicinal chemistry
  • Structure elucidation
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic compounds
  • Lipids
