Current Position: Ines Bruno, PhD, is Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno, Italy.

Research activity and interest: Prof. Bruno’s research activity, initially focused on the chemical and pharmacological study on secondary metabolites from marine invertebrates, afterwards turned to the identification and development of new molecular entities able to interact with macromolecular targets involved in inflammation and cancer pathology. Multidisciplinary projects on mPGES-1, BAG3 protein, molecular chaperone HSP90 and epigenetic targets such as HDAC enzymes and bromodomains proteins family, have been carried out and have been the focus of several papers published on international peer review journals. Employing a combination of computer-aided strategies and advanced biophysical analysis techniques, several collections of structurally diverse compounds have been successfully synthesized. Leveraging the latest and most innovative synthetic methodologies, these newly developed molecular entities serve dual purposes: as invaluable chemical tools for dissecting the molecular mechanisms of target proteins and as promising candidates for the development of novel and more efficacious pharmaceutical agents.
